Our Story
At Jarvah Biltong, we begin with faith and end with love. Three things are core to us: God, family, and food. When we start with God, we find that all has been provided for. The name Jarvah is our two daughters' names combined, one meaning 'Light of God' and the other, 'the sweetness of God.' We pray our products and services bring light and sweetness to you. Therefore, we are committed to producing products that are real, whole, and good.
Our products are inspired by the Bible, wherein Exodus 16:8 God tells Moses that he will be provided bread in the morning and meat in the evening; how God instructs Ezekiel on how to make bread; when Joseph says to his brothers in Genesis 45:18 that they will live off the fat of the earth; and how in Proverbs instructs us to eat honey because it is good. This is the reason behind making Biltong and Ezekiel Bread.
Our company logo has a light ray and a bee to represent our daughters, and the E and A represent England and Africa. Our first love as South Africans is biltong, and England has been our home for the last decade. We bring these together in our heritage and love for good food. As a South African saying goes, "We have one leg in England and one in Africa...
"Our winged Bull, branded with the Byzantine cross, pays homage to St. Luke the Physician and Gospel writer, who is also the patron saint of meat cutters!
St. Luke, pray for us!
